Aardvark was mutated by Roger Fieldston. Roger had the power to activate latent mutations in anybody he touched. The mutations were often severe and grotesque. Roger had his powers reversed by Captain Universe after he accidentally mutated several people, causing them to riot. Roger went to seek out those he had mutated so he could take their powers away. Aardvark was presumably cured once Roger was able to reverse the mutations he had caused.
