After learning the identity of Spider-Man, Vulture came after his loved ones, first setting Aunt May's house on fire an then attacking his wife, the Black Cat. Although he was stopped by Spider-Man and apprehended by the police, the Black Cat later killed Vulture in prison, causing others to suspect that Spider-Man was the one who killed him as revenge.
