Turning Red, Disney and Pixar’s latest animated creation, premiered exclusively on Disney+ on Friday (March 11). The animated film centres around Mei Lee, a “confident, dorky” 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl whose inner red panda pops out when she gets too excited — or stressed out.

Mei Lee is a 13-year-old girl who is torn between being her mother’s obedient daughter and the chaos of her youth. As if that were not enough, when she gets too excited, she turns into a big red panda. Pixar’s latest film has some parents “Turning Red” – upset or embarrassed that the animated coming-of-age film makes references to periods. “Turning Red” (streaming on Disney+) tells the story of Mei Lee (Rosalie Chiang), a 13-year-old Chinese Canadian honors student with adorably dorky confidence.
